Video conference with the superior of the Moldovan contingent KFOR-17

CHISINAU, August 1, 2022 — Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatii and the commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Eduard Ohladciuc, discussed today, via video conference, with Major Vadim Birca, the superior of the KFOR-17 contingent, deployed in Kosovo.

During the online conversation, the officials were informed about the activity of the military and the situation in the area of responsibility.

Thus, the commander of the KFOR-17 contingent specified that the troops under his command, along with the Italians, Americans, and Croatians, conduct theoretical and practical sessions as part of the mandatory training at the beginning of the mission.

At the same time, Major Birca informed the officials about the situation in the area of responsibility, noting that the Western Regional Command is not on alert due to the latest events in Kosovo. In the same context, the officer stated that the missions are carried out with responsibility, and the discipline and moral-psychological state of the staff are good.

Minister Anatolie Nosatii requested the Moldovan peacekeepers to fulfill their functional obligations with strict observance of safety rules.

It should be noted that, since 2014, the Republic of Moldova has deployed 17 contingents of peacekeepers to the international peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. The last one was deployed in July 2021 and will be active for six months.
