Lithuanian parliamentarians visiting the Ministry of Defense

CHISINAU, February 22, 2023 — Secretary of State for Defense Policy, National Defense Planning and Military Interoperability, Valeriu Mija, met with a delegation of the Parliament of Lithuania and national security experts from Lithuania, on a visit from documentaries in Chisinau, during the current February 21-22.

The main topics on the agenda of the discussions concerned the regional security situation, the challenges related to maintaining national stability, the development of national resilience, as well as the assistance that could be provided by the Lithuanian parliamentarians in this regard.

At the same time, the parties reviewed the current state of Moldovan-Lithuanian collaboration on the military dimension, with an emphasis on Lithuania’s assistance in specialized training and in the field of military education for the personnel of the National Army, the support given in the objective of modernizing the defense institution of the Republic of Moldova , but also in the European course of the country.

An important aspect addressed during the dialogue referred to the political support from the Lithuanian Government in the framework of the EU accession and in the context of the implementation of the European Peace Facility (EPF) projects. In this regard, State Secretary Mija thanked for Lithuania’s management of the first two EPF projects with reference to the development of the medical and engineering capabilities of the National Army.
