Delegation of the European Union, at the Ministry of Defence



CHISINAU, December 12, 2023 — Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi had a meeting today with a European Union (EU) delegation, led by the director of the European Commission’s Foreign Policy Instruments Service, Peter M. Wagner.

The agenda of the discussions, in which the head of the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, also participated, included topics regarding cooperation with European Union countries and international organizations, the regional security situation, priorities in the field of defense, the European path of our country, but also the assistance projects implemented in the National Army with the support of external partners.

Anatolie Nosatîi appreciated, in this sense, the contribution of EU member countries to the achievement of the desired modernization of the defense and security sector of our country, especially through the European Peace Instrument (EPF).

Thus, the official thanked for the consistent assistance provided, so far, in the form of medical equipment and engineering, for the National Army personnel, within the EPF project started in 2021.

At the same time, Anatolie Nosatîi expressed gratitude to the actors who are involved in the implementation of the other EPF projects intended for the development of the defense capabilities of our country.

Other topics discussed referred to the contribution of the Republic of Moldova to maintaining peace and stability at the international level, by participating in missions, including under the auspices of the EU, but also the intention to expand the presence of the National Army soldiers in peacekeeping operations worldwide.

It should be noted that the European Union delegation is in Chisinau, between December 11-13.

During the visit, the European officials have planned working meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, as well as participation in the reception ceremony of the second batch of medical and engineering equipment for the National Army through the EPF.
