The objective of strengthening defense capabilities, in the attention of civil society organizations

CHISINAU, December 15, 2023 — A new meeting with representatives of civil society organizations in the field of defense and security took place today at the Agency for Military Science and Memory.

Present at the event, the Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi declared that maintaining the constructive dialogue between state institutions and civil society is essential, especially in the context of achieving strategic objectives — strengthening defense capabilities, modernizing the National Army, but also increasing national resilience to crises generated by the situation current security. " Currently, when the Republic of Moldova is in full process of European integration, but also strengthening its defense capabilities to be able to face the challenges, and the National Army is going through an extensive transformation, in accordance with international standards, the support of civil society is more than vital. I am referring here to the expertise that specialists from civil society organizations can offer us in public consultations of important strategic documents, training, the exchange of practices in certain fields, analysis of the security environment, dissemination of the narratives of the Ministry of Defense, projects to promote the military service, the role of the National Army in maintaining a stable security climate in our country, increasing the attractiveness of the military profession, developing strategic communication capabilities and others", said Anatolie Nosatîi.

During the meeting, the representatives of the subdivisions informed those present about the achievements for the year 2023 in the field of defense policy and cooperation with external partners and the perspectives for the year 2024, the contribution of the National Army to the maintenance of international peace and stability, the actions taken in the context the objective of transforming the National Army, as well as the progress and deficiencies in strengthening the integrity within the institution.

At the same time, the participants discussed the need to strengthen the partnership between the Ministry of Defense and civil society, in the context of achieving the objectives of strengthening the defense capabilities of the Republic of Moldova, modernizing the National Army, increasing national resilience to hybrid threats, but also increasing the attractiveness of military service in society.
