Moldovan-Romanian partnership discussed at the Ministry of Defence



CHISINAU, February 14, 2024 — Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatîi today met with a Romanian delegation led by the Chairwoman of the Committee on Defence, Public Order and National Security of the Romanian Senate, Nicoleta Pauliuc, who is on a working visit to Moldova. The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Committee on National Security, Defence and Public Order of the Moldovan Parliament, Lilian Carp.

The officials discussed topics related to the cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of defence, the assistance Romania provides to our country in the context of European integration, our country’s desire to expand its contribution to international peace and security through participation in European Union peacekeeping missions, as well as the regional security situation.

The parties also discussed Romania’s support under the European Peace Facility (EPF) and North Atlantic Alliance assistance projects for the Republic of Moldova.

At the same time, Minister Nosatîi expressed Romania’s gratitude for its political support in the process of granting candidate status to the European Union, as well as full membership in the South East Europe Defence Ministers’ Meeting (SEDM) process.

In turn, Senator Nicoleta Pauliuc said that Romania will continue to assist the Republic of Moldova in European integration, especially in the effort to harmonize legislation and strengthen the defense capabilities of our country.
