Moldovan peacekeepers from UNIFIL-2 started their mission in the area of responsibilityCHISINAU, February 20, 2024 — The soldiers of the UNIFIL-2 contingent of the National Army, deployed to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, have started their mission. They took over the duties of the Armenian peacekeepers who were part of the Italian contingent, during a handover ceremony held at the Multinational Base “Sector West HQ UNP In the presence of Sector West’s superiors, as well as military personnel from Italy, Armenia and the Republic of Moldova, Captain Maxim Dmitriev, UNIFIL-2 Commander, took over the UN flag and the responsibilities of the post. The National Army’s UNIFIL-2 contingent consists of 33 professional military personnel, including three women, who for six months will carry out security and guard missions at strategic objectives and patrol the area of responsibility. |
