Moldovan-Dutch military consultations in The Hague

The Hague, 23 February 2024 — The Ministry of Defence delegation, led by the Secretary of State for Defence Policy, Valeriu Mija, participates for the first time in the Moldovan-Dutch bilateral dialogue, which is taking place in February 2024 in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands.

On the agenda of the discussions are the topics of the future intensification and diversification of the Moldovan-Dutch bilateral defence partnership, the definition of medium-term cooperation objectives at bilateral level and within international organisations, the current security situation, hybrid threats and security challenges in the region, as well as the possibility of supporting the reform of Moldova’s defence sector.

During the dialogue, Secretary of State Mija appreciated the significant contribution of the Dutch side to the promotion of the European vector of the Republic of Moldova, the valuable assistance provided in the field of Cyber, as well as the offers of participation in educational programmes, courses and trainings. At the same time, the official thanked for the involvement and assistance of Dutch experts in the conduct of joint military exercises.

On the sidelines of the event, the delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova had a series of meetings with the leadership and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as with representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in The Hague.
