Start of the Course in Defense Management in the Context of Global Security

CHISINAU, 26 March 2024 — The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is holding a course on Managing Defense in the Wider Security Context (MDWSC) Course at the Agency for Military Science and Memory in March this year.

The training takes place as an integrated part of the National Security Services — Current Issues of National Security Training Programme organized by the Military Academy “Alexandru cel Bun”.

Attending the opening ceremony of the course, Minister of Defense Anatolie Nosatîi underlined its importance for the professional development of the representatives of the Moldovan military structures. “This training has a special value for the specialists of the force structures participating in the program in the current security context, when the field of security and defense is at the center of attention of the authorities and citizens of the country. We need professionals who can identify the most appropriate solutions to the challenges we face at home and abroad, and the experience of our external partners is always welcome and useful,” said Minister Nosatîi.

For her part, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Chisinau, H.E. Fern Horine, said: “Since 2000, the UK Ministry of Defense has organized this course for partner states around the world. This year we are running our second course in the Republic of Moldova. We are witnessing major changes in regional security. It is the right time to address strategic security, defense, governance, leadership and management issues in depth.”

The course on “Defense Management in the Context of Global Security” is being held for the second time in the Republic of Moldova and will be delivered by instructors from the British Defense Academy. During the training, participants will cover topics on the current security environment, key international, regional and national security and defense issues, defense policies and strategies, defense transformation and defense management. The activity gathers representatives of the force structures of the Republic of Moldova, as well as personnel from the state structures that are related to the topic under discussion, participants of the Refresher Programme: National Security Services — Current National Security Issues.

The first course of this kind took place in Chisinau in September 2019.
