EU audit on EPF implementation in the Republic of Moldova

CHISINAU, April 2, 2024 — A team of experts from the European Peace Facility (EPF) paid a working visit to the Ministry of Defense at the end of March this year to conduct an audit of the assistance delivered to the National Army through the EPF.

Thus, according to the agenda, the auditors had a series of meetings with specialists from the subdivisions of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, during which they discussed the needs of the defense structure in terms of equipment in order to achieve the strategic objectives of strengthening the defense capabilities of the Republic of Moldova, but also providing the necessary support to public authorities in managing crisis situations.

At the same time, the experts visited military units in all garrisons, as well as medical institutions, which benefit from the equipment provided through the platform. They were familiarised with how the assistance is used in the work of the beneficiary structures, as well as the condition of the goods delivered.

It should be noted that the first batch of equipment delivered to the National Army through the European Peace Facility was received in May 2023. It was part of the €7 million assistance package approved for the Republic of Moldova in 2021 and included equipment and technical units for the medical and engineering subdivisions of the National Army.
