National Army engineers - called to Orhei and Straseni

CHISINAU, April 9, 2024 — Yesterday, April 8, the military engineers of the “Codru” Engineer Battalion carried out two demining missions.

The team led by Major Ion Golovei intervened in the locality of Braviceni, Orhei district, where they discovered a hand grenade type F1 in a household.

The same team was called to the locality of Vorniceni, Straseni district, where, in an agricultural field, the military engineers found a 122 mm artillery shell and a 45 mm bomblet.

The explosive objects dated back to the Second World War and were destroyed under maximum security conditions.

National Army engineers warn that with the start of the agricultural season, the number of unexploded ammunition found in the ground has increased. In this regard, we inform you that if you detect an explosive object:

— Notify 112;

— Mark the place where the explosive object was found;

— DO NOT touch the ammunition by hand or other objects;

— DO NOT hit or move the ammunition found in the ground or on the surface;

— DO NOT dismantle warheads or other components;

— DO NOT throw the explosive object into the fire.
