The Secretary of State, Valeriu Mija, participated in the „Republic of Moldova - United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” Strategic Dialogue

CHISINAU, April 30, 2024 — The Secretary of State, Valeriu Mija, participated in the 3rd Strategic Dialogue “Republic of Moldova — United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”, which took place today in London.

On the sidelines of the event, the official had a meeting with the Minister of State for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Leo Docherty, with whom he discussed aspects of the Moldovan-British bilateral cooperation in the military field and the prospects for its development, the efforts undertaken in the sense of strengthening the defense capabilities of our country, as well as the path towards the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.

The Secretary of State, Valeriu Mija emphasized the good collaborative relationship with the British side and thanked the strategic partner for the assistance projects carried out in the National Army, the training of the National Army soldiers in profile institutions in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and by British Mobile Consulting and Training Team (BMATT), but also for consulting and expertise in several important fields for the defense establishment.

At the same time, the parties discussed the regional security situation, combating hybrid threats, strengthening the resilience of national institutions against new challenges and promoting strategic communication at the national level 

It should be noted that the delegation of the Republic of Moldova to the Strategic Dialogue Republic of Moldova — the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is led by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi. The delegation includes representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the National Anti-Corruption Center.
