The first Strategic Dialogue in the field of defense and Moldovan-French bilateral consultations in the military field

CHISINAU, June 4, 2024 — The Minister of Defence, Anatolie Nosatîi, together with the Secretary of State for Defense Policy, Valeriu Mija, had a meeting, today, at the headquarters of the institution, with a delegation from the Ministry of the French Armed Forces.

The French officials are in the Republic of Moldova in the context of the first Moldovan-French Strategic Dialogue in the field of defense and the Moldovan-French bilateral Consultations in the military field.

The strategic dialogue in the field of defense between the parties concerned topics regarding the current security situation in the region, the reform of the defense sector, the transformation and modernization of the National Army, as well as the increase of the national resilience of state institutions, as well as the capacity to manage different types of crises.

Also today, the Chief of the General Staff of the National Army, Brigadier General Eduard Ohladciuc, received at the Ministry of Defense the Director of the General Staff for Euro-Atlantic International Relations, Rear Admiral Luc Raynal, from the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, to discuss the Moldovan-French bilateral consultations in the military field, the current state of bilateral cooperation relations in the field of defense, as well as the prospects for their intensification, including the assistance given by the French side to the development of the defense institution and the priorities for the integral consolidation of national defense capabilities.

Specialists from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the National Army also participated in the bilateral meetings.

It should be noted that the first Strategic Dialogue in the field of defense and the Moldovan-French bilateral consultations in the military field take place in the context of the Intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in the field of defense between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova and the Ministry of the Armed Forces of the French Republic, signed in Paris on 7 current March.
