The soldiers of the National Army will participate in the “Peace Shield 2024” exercise



CHISINĂU, June 11, 2024 — The National Army will conduct, between June 17-28 this year, the multinational exercise “Peace Shield 2024”.

The purpose of the exercise is to evaluate the 22nd Peacekeeping Battalion “Blue Helmets” in accordance with the Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC). The military will be checked by national and international experts when carrying out actions specific to international peacekeeping missions, such as: patrol, convoy and escort, search of vehicles at checkpoints, ensuring the security of strategic objectives, medical evacuation, as well as granting the first medical help.

Concurrently, the National Army will host the Assessor Training Course aimed at training military personnel on the procedures and correctness of conducting the assessment in accordance with the OCC concept.

About 40 evaluators from Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, South Korea, France, Georgia, Germany, Jordan, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malta, Great Britain, Morocco, Romania, Serbia, USA will be trained at the mentioned course , Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine.

It should be noted that the OCC certification is a mandatory condition for the participation of the National Army in peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the UN, including KFOR in Kosovo and UNIFIL in Lebanon.

The National Army joined the OCC program in 2007.

In connection with the preparations for the “Peace Shield 2024” exercise, during the month of June, there will be several movements of military equipment from the places of permanent deployment to the Training Center of the National Army on the national roads.
