Military Academy „Alexandru cel Bun” Marks 21st AnniversaryCHISINAU, October 5, 2013 — Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta attended the official ceremony dedicated to the 21st anniversary of Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” (MAAF), held today, within the compound of the institution. Vitalie Marinuta stated that for the National Army, the graduates of the Military Academy are an example of assiduity, professionalism, discipline and responsibility. The Minister claimed that they are the future of the Armed Forces. “I am sure that you will apply best practices in your military career and will contribute to the modernization of the National Army”, the Defense Minister said. Vitalie Marinuta pointed out that, throughout 21 years, MAAF changed into an educational institution that is currently appreciated inside and outside the country. “The Military Academy is the only institution of military education in Republic of Moldova. It has diligent students attending courses in military schools in Greece, Turkey, Romania and USA, that the institution is proud of”, Minister Marinuta mentioned. During the event, a group of servicemembers were awarded the “Cross of Merit”, class II and III, and Insignia of Gratitude, for outstanding achievements in work and excellent service. Visitors familiarized with the infrastructure, equipment and activity of Academy “Alexandru cel Bun”. Students of the Military Academy and servicemembers of the Guard of Honor demonstrated some wrestling and weapon handling exercises. Col. Mihail Buclis, commander of MAAF, specified that the institution has three specialties: infantry, artillery and communications. The source pointed out that, during Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” is a member of the Partnership for Peace Consortium, and it has two faculties: military science and public administration. The institution also has a center of defense and security strategic studies, a continuous training center and a Language Learning Center. The institution has eight departments and 117 teachers. |
