Brigade “Moldova” Celebrates 22nd Anniversary



Chisinau, April 11, 2014 — Defense Minister, Valeriu Troenco, attended, today, the 22nd anniversary ceremony of Brigade “Moldova” from Balti.

Valeriu Troenco congratulated the military and civil staff that, throughout 22 years of activity, initiated and carried out reforms, brought modern military standards home in order for the Moldovan army to be able to carry out missions established by the country’s leadership.

Today, Brigade “Moldova” consists of a body of skillful and professional staff dedicated to their missions. Dear servicemembers, as a Minister of Defense, I assure you of all my respect and support“, the Defense Minister said.

During the ceremony, Minister Troenco awarded diplomas and conferred military ranks to a group of soldiers of the unit as a sign of appreciation of their activity and achievements in military service.

The Commander of the unit, LTC Ghenadie Nitrean, stated that, throughout 22 years, about 36,000 conscripts and servicemembers did their military service in Brigade “Moldova”. The unit staff demonstrated responsibility and commitment in carrying out their missions within the Peacekeeping Forces from the Security Zone, multinational exercises, as well as various relief missions.

At the end of the cevermony, the National Army leadership and the guests of the event visited the conscripts’ training room, familiarized with the technical equipment of the brigade and watched the performance of the orchestra of the unit.

Brigade “Moldova” from Balti was established on April 10, 1992.
