The UNIFIL-2 contingent deployed to Lebanon (video)

CHISINAU, February 16, 2024 — The 33 Moldovan peacekeepers of the UNIFIL-2 contingent, including three women, have deployed to the peacekeeping operation in Lebanon. The soldiers took off today from Chisinau International Airport.

The commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Eduard Ohladciuc, present at the military ceremony, wished the peacekeepers success in the UN mission, calling for responsibility and discipline in the theatre of operations.

In the Republic of Lebanon, the Moldovan peacekeepers will carry out security and guard missions for military objectives and patrolling of the area of responsibility, working as part of the Italian contingent.

It should be noted that the first contingent of Moldovan peacekeepers went to the peacekeeping mission in the Republic of Lebanon in February 2023, where they operated for six months.
