National Army conducts exercise “REGEX 2024”



CHISINAU, February 16, 2024 — The first workshop within the framework of the regional staff exercise “Regex 2024” will take place from February 19 to March 1 this year.

According to the superior of the exercise, Lieutenant Colonel Vladimir Covalenco, the activity is organized with the support of the NATO Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy and aims to train the military according to Western standards for planning and conducting exercises, managing crisis situations, strengthening and assessing the level of interoperability of forces in a multinational environment.

The training modules will be attended by about 30 representatives from NATO partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Jordan, Kingdom of Bahrain, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Algeria, Malta, African Union (Ghana and Benin), as well as about 20 national army staff officers. Five instructors from the NATO Joint Force Command in Naples will also be present.

The source specified that the staff exercise consists of several workshops and its organisation on the territory of the country is an important step in strengthening regional cooperation and interoperability. It is also an opportunity to develop the relationship with NATO partner states, as well as to demonstrate Moldova’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.

The Regional Staff Exercise “Regex 2024” takes place in accordance with the Combat Readiness Plan of the National Army for the current year and the External Activities Plan of the Ministry of Defence and the National Army for 2024.
