Parachute jumps in the exercise „Swift Response-2024”

CHISINAU, May 13, 2024 — On May 13-14, the Moldovan and American military will carry out landing training as part of the “Swift Response” exercise.

According to the superior of the exercise, Lieutenant-Colonel Ion Coțofană, more than 200 Moldovan and American soldiers will perform jumps from two C-130 Hercules military aircraft, from the US Armed Forces, using the MC6/T-11 parachute system.

The soldiers of the “Fulger” Special Purpose Battalion, as well as the soldiers of the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States of America, will perform mass demonstration jumps, from an altitude of 350 meters, in the perimeter of the areas near the towns of Florești and Fălești districts.

The source specified that all necessary safety measures during the trainings, which will take place, will be respected without disrupting public activity. At the same time, during the course of the exercise, until May 16, there will be movements of military equipment units on the national roads in the center and north of the country.

The aim of the trainings is to develop the capacities and raise the level of interoperability between the participating soldiers, as well as the implementation of modern techniques, methods and procedures of individual and collective military training.

“Swift Response” is part of the multinational exercise “Defender Europe 24” and is intended for the Moldovan-American special forces. The National Army is participating in the “Defender Europe” exercises starting in 2021.

The “Swift Response-2024” exercise takes place in accordance with the Training Plan of the National Army for the current year.
