146 Explosives Blown Up by Military EOD Engineers in October


CHISINAU, November 1, 2012 — National Army EOD engineers blew up 146 explosives in October in Criuleni, Hincesti, Orhei, Falesti, Taraclia districts and Chisinau and Balti cities.

According to LTC Mihail Semionov, Chief of EOD Section of the National Army, during this period of time, EOD engineers carried out 21 mine disposal missions.

The latest discoveries of ammunition were recorded October 31 in Hiliuti village, Falesti district. A citizen found unidentified objects in his household and announced the law enforcement structures. The EOD team of Moldova Brigade from Balti went to the very place and found a 152 artillery projectile and a mortar bomb of 45 mm caliber, dating back to Second World War.

Also, on the last day of October, the EOD team’s assistance was required in Balti, where engineers found an 82 mm mortar bomb. The discovered objects were transported to Moldova Brigade Military Training Base and destroyed.

LTC Semionov said that, this year, the National Army EOD engineers carried out 219 mine disposal missions and blew up 2086 explosives all over the country.
