A new project of pesticides’ destruction was launched in the Republic of Moldova



Chişinău, November 16th, 2012 — the Minister of Defense, Vitalie Marinuţa, had a meeting with two representatives of NATO Support Agency, Billur Sakintuna and Jan De Vadder. They came to Moldova these days to attend the conference of launching the tender to implement the project of the pesticides and dangerous chemical destruction.

Vitalie Marinuţa thanked for their support offered to our country and welcomed the start of the project which provides repackaging, disposal and destruction abroad of 1269 tons of waste pesticides from 15 warehouses in district centers. “On behalf of the Government, on my own and Moldovan citizens, I want to thank NATO Support Agency for their assistance in various projects whose purpose is to reduce the environmental impact caused by obsolete pesticides in our country,” said Minister Marinuţa.

On November 15th, 2012, in Chisinau took place the conference of launching the public tender organized by NATO Support Agency, attended by representatives of companies from Romania, Poland, Germany and France. The participants visited obsolete pesticides storage depots from village Pascani, district Criuleni and Danceni, district Ialoveni.

The agreement between the Moldovan Government and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on Maintenance and Supply, regarding the destruction of pesticides and dangerous chemicals in Moldova was signed in Brussels on June 22nd, 2011.
