The Minister of Defence had a meeting with the Ukrainian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova



CHISINAU, January 16th, 2013 — Bilateral relations between Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in various fields, including the military one, were the basic themes of today’s meeting of the Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuţa with Mr Sergei Pirozhkov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine in our country .

During the visit, the officials reviewed the state of bilateral defense relations between the two countries, military-political situation, as well as other topics of current importance. The Minister of Defense expressed conviction that there are all prerequisites to enhance these mutually advantageous terms. In this context, Mr. Vitalie Marinuţa mentioned the MoD’s achievements during 2012 and highlighted the priorities in the National Army military reform.

At the same time, Mr. Vitalie Marinuţa reiterated the country’s leadership position to promote good neighborly policy and hopes to boost the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, while the Ukrainian presidency in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

In his turn, the Ambassador Sergey Pirozhkov reiterated that his country supports the reform aspirations of the people of Moldova, specifying Ukraine’s availability to remain a reliable partner in the future.
