The Republic of Lithuania has a new military attaché to the Republic of Moldova



Chisinau, January 28th, 2013 — the Minister of Defense , Vitalie Marinuţa was visited by the ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in Chisinau, Violeta Motulaitė, who introduced lieutenant — colonel Kviklys Mindaugas, the new Lithuania’s military attaché to Moldova.

The officials discussed the current state of the Moldovan-Lithuanian cooperation in the field of defense and about the identification of some mechanisms to boost it.

The Minister of Defense congratulated lieutenant- colonel Kviklys Mindaugas on the occasion of his appointment to the post and wished him success in exercising the mandate. Vitalie Marinuţa stated that the friendly relations between Moldova and Lithuania are a good prerequisite for the development of bilateral cooperation on the principle of equality and mutual respect.

In turn, the Lithuanian military attaché declared that it is a privilege for him to hold this position, and his country will continue to advocate for an effective partnership with Moldova.

According to Ambassador Violeta Motulaite, the Moldovan-Lithuanian political and military consultations will be held on 28-30 January at the Ministry of Defense. Their goal is to establish future priorities and the signing of bilateral cooperation plan in the military field for 2013.

Moldovan-Lithuanian cooperation in the military field was initiated in November 2000.
