The Minister of Defense visited the Military Topographic Center



Chişinău, January 29th 2013 — The Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta had a working visit to the National Army’s Military Topographic Center.

The unit commander, Major Eugeniu Mariţ presented the basic tasks and activities carried out in 2012 and priorities for this year: database creation for geographic military information system, the polygraphic and printed works’ execution, and multinational commitments execution of Multinational Programme co-production of spatial data (Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program — MGCP).

The Minister Marinuta said that he is satisfied with the performance of military topographers within projects carried out at national and international levels on the segment of responsibility, the projects that the civil society has primarily benefited. “You have managed to fulfill the tasks set, despite personnel problems and endowment of the unit with equipment, which is why I appreciate your efforts in terms of budget austerity”, the Minister of Defense told the Military Topographic center personnel.

Vitalie Marinuta assured the topographers that their problems are on his agenda and will take the necessary steps to solve them if possible.

The Military Topographic Center was created on 28 May 1992. The unit’s mission is to provide with maps and geospatial data the General Staff of National Army and military units, and to perform topographic measurements of land and to provide topo-geodetic artillery troops.

The Minister of Defense also had a working visit to the State Enterprise “Social Service Plant ”.
