Moldovan Soldiers Train at Smardan Training Area in Romania



CHISINAU, December 7, 2015 — A platoon of National Army service members participates in a multinational exercise at Smardan training area (Romania) within December 7-13.

The training is part of the Platinum Lynx 16.2 and is conducted within the Black Sea Rotational Force multinational exercise bringing together contingents from the Republic of Moldova, Romania, and the USA.

The exercise aims to increase the interoperability among the participants and to strengthen their cooperation.

The Republic of Moldova deployed 29 professional servicemembers from “Moldova” Brigade to Smardan training area. Romania is represented by soldiers from Mechanized Infantry Battalion 300, Tanks Battalion 284, and Mechanized Infantry Brigade 282. The USA participates in the exercise with marines and sailors of the Black Sea Rotational Force, deployed to “Mihail Kogalniceanu” Military Base from Romania.
