Republic of Moldova and Turkey Sign a New Military Training Cooperation Agreement



CHISINAU, October 18, 2018 — The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova signed a cooperation agreement in the field of military training with the General Staff of the Republic of Turkey.

The document was signed on October 17, 2018 by Minister Eugen Sturza and his Turkish counterpart, Hulusi Akar, during a ceremony conducted at the Government’s headquarters.

Besides the existent cooperation areas, the Agreement regulates aspects related to staff’s training in medical military academies and cartography military schools, students and teaching staff exchanges between educational institutions, participation in joint military exercises, cooperation in the fields of logistics training, military medicine and healthcare, as well as exchange of information regarding the military judicial processes.

The document substitutes the Additional Agreement in the field of military training signed in Ankara on August 15, 2001 that is currently applicable.

The new Agreements aims to regulate more clearly and in a multidimensional way the process of organizing and conducting training within the military educational institutions of the Republic of Moldova and Turkey.
