CHISINAU, April 22, 2011 — The National Army Main Staff is the most important military institution of the Republic of Moldova. Its mission will always be to plan, manage and run the National Army, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta stated today, April 22, during the 19th anniversary ceremony of the National Army Main Staff.
In his message addressed to the Main Staff personnel, Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta specified: “You are in charge of National Army reorganization by implementing Military Strategy. You are to rebuild the National Army in compliance with the current and future requirements”.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Defense awarded diplomas to military and civil personnel of the Main Staff as a sign of appreciation of the role and performances of the National Army Main Staff in term of organization and reform of the army.
The event, that started with a parade of the guard of honor troops, brought together former Main Staff commanders such as: generals Ion Costas, Nicolae Petrica, Vasile Grosu, Ion Coropcean, colonels Tudor Samoilenco and Vladimir Dontu.
The National Army Main Staff is the core structure of military planning and management of troops established April 24, 1992, through Republic of Moldova Government decision as of March 25, 1992.
The National Army Main Staff is currently run by Brigadier Gen. Iurie Dominic.
