Romanian Ambassador visits the Ministry of Defense



CHISINAU, January 24th , 2013 — the Minister of defense Vitalie Marinuţa had a working meeting with Marius Lazurca, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Romania to Moldova.

Dignitaries discussed the current stage of Moldovan-Romanian relations, the actions of the European integration of Republic of Moldova and have exchanged opinions about the field of military cooperation and regional security.

Vitalie Marinuţa appreciated the advanced bilateral cooperation with Romania on military segment and expressed the confidence that current stage of defense cooperation will be developed. The Minister mentioned that for the Republic of Moldova the experience of Romanian military participation in theaters of operations is important and noted that the Moldovan military have been successful in implementing the standards under NATO’s Operational Capabilities Concept. Vitalie Marinuta has pointed out that this fact is decisive for National Army participation in the peacekeeping operations under UN auspices.

During the dialogue, Minister Marinuta expressed his gratitude for the opportunities of training and professional development of the National Army’s military in educational institutions of Romania. In this context, Vitalie Marinuta highly appreciated the activity of former military attaché, Colonel Danicu Tănasă that significantly contributed to the development of many beneficial programs to both countries. At the same time, the Moldovan official thanked Romania for its support to our country in starting the project supported by NATO which provides repackaging, disposal and destruction of 1269 tons of obsolete pesticides abroad.

In his turn, Ambassador Marius Lazurca mentioned that the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the National Army can count on the support of Romania which is ready to assist military reform in the priority areas. Also, Marius Lazurca said that currently, there are new opportunities for Moldova’s transition from being a consumer of international security in the security provider. The Ambassador emphasized that amplification of bilateral relations and promotion of mutually beneficial relations between Moldovan National Army and the Romanian Army will continue to be supported.
