Military Sportsmen Awarded at “Sports Gala 2013”



Chisinau, December 21, 2013- The National Army sportsmen were awarded, on December 20, by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, within “Sports Gala 2013”, for performances in international competitions and contribution to sports development in our country.

Thus, six representatives of the Central Sports Club of the Army (CSCA) and one athlete of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces “Alexandru cel Bun” (MAAF) became the Gala’s laureates.

The title of the best sportsman of the year 2013 was awarded to 1stLieutenant of the National Army, Oleg Sirghi, European Weightlifting Champion and winner of the bronze medal within the World Weightlifting Universiade from Kazan, Russia.

Another CSCA sportsman, Victor Ciobanu, was declared the best Greek-Roman wrestler. In 2013, he won a silver medal at the World Weightlifting Universiade and the fifth place at the European Wrestling Championship.

At the automobilism category, CSCA sportsman, Victor Buzurin was awarded for outstanding achievements in sports development at the national level.

Three other military sportsmen — Vladimir Hudeaev, Vasilii Burlacenco and Veceslav Fedorin — were awarded at “Radiosport” category. They won silver and bronze medals at different European competitions.

At the same time, MAAF representative, Igor Gilca, is among the military sportsmen with high sports performances in 2013. He is the, Kempo world champion and winner of the bronze medal at the European Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

The current Sports Gala brought together 100 sportsmen, coaches, and other sports experts, that contributed to the development of sports area in Republic of Moldova, in 2013.
